    2. Computational Modelling and Material Science. This umbrella SIG now includes earth observation, bioinformatics, computational biology and chemistry that all use computational modelling techniques. Each SIG is coordinated by a part-time Research Associate, a senior faculty member or researcher in the SIG area. The Research Associate helps KENET build a human network of faculty members and researchers in a particular SIG academic area. They also prepare Calls for Proposals used to award up to four research for each SIG. In addition, they also develop Calls for Proposals for innovative use of educational technology to teach courses in each of the SIG areas.

KENET plans to operationalize a Special Interest Group in Medicine in the FY 2026/2027 that starts on July 1, 2026. The idea is to advance medical education and research in priority or emerging areas.

KENET invites nominations of a research associate in medicine who will be selected.
